Sportshall Athletics

Congratulations to Harpur Hill Primary School who came 1st the Sportshall Year 5/6 Athletics final on Tuesday 9th February 2010 at Chapel en-le-frith High School. Each area sent their winning school to the event, the schools were, Gamesley representing Glossop, New Mills Primary from New Mills, Chapel Primay from Chapel-en-le-Frith, and Harpur Hill Primary from Buxton. Each event was ran by leaders on the Young Apprentice programme at Buxton Community School, each school had to compete in the following events: Standing Triple Jump, Vertical Jump, Standing Long Jump, Speed Bounce, Chest Push, Javelin as well as 6 track events. It was a brilliant display of effort and determination from all athletes who took part and it created and electrifying atmosphere!! Well Done to all the Athletes who took part and to their teachers for doing a brilliant job. Also a big thank you to Chapel -en-le-Frith High school for allowing us to use their facilities and to the Young Apprentices for doing a FANTASTIC job.

High 5 Partnership Finals

On Tuesday 9th March 2010 schools from across the partnership came together for the High Peak School and Sport Partnership High 5 Finals, which were held at Buxton Community Schools. The schools were, Chapel Primary, Taxal and Fernilee, Hague Bar, Buxton Juniors, St Annes and Harpur Hill Primary School. The schools involved were the winning/ Runner up representatives from their cluster area. the schools took part in 2 hours of netball, with each school playing 4 matches. Jo Barnett, Competition Manager for the High Peak School and Sport Partnership said " it is wonderful to see so many children enjoying the game of High 5, each year you see the standard of netball improve, there has been some really good games played and some children identified to link to the local club." The event was officiated by young leaders from Buxton Community School who had attended the Young Netball Organisers Course.

Taxal and Fernilee were crowned 2010 champions with Hague Bar runners up, they have now been invited to take part in the County Final on 30th March 2010.

Cross Country Results

On Tuesday Tuesday 16th March 2010, Harpur Hill, Burbage, Taxal and Fernilee, St James, Simmondley, Hague Bar, Chapel and Hayfield Primary School attended the frist High Peak School and Sport Partnership Cross Country Finals, which were held at Chapel-en-le-Frith High School. There was 4 races over the afternoon, a Girls Year 3/4, Boys Year 3/4, Girls Year 5/6 and Boys Year 5/6. Young Leaders from Chapel-en-le-Frith helped to run the competition and were on hand to offer motivation and encouragement. Tag Rugby Results

After several cancellation the 2010 Tag Rugby Finals were underway  with 8 teams taking part, including Harpur Hill, Simmondley, Padfield, St Mary's (New Mills), Chapel Primary. The tournament was held at Buxton Rugby Club, Colin Allcock and Janet from the club were on hand to offer support with refereeing, whilst leaders from Buxton community school helped with officiating, scoring and time keeping. Padfield primary school were the eventual winners after a close final against Harpur Hill.

Kwik Cricket Results 2010

Congratulations to Simmondley primary who won the High Peak District Kwik Cricket Finals. Five schools who won their cluster competitions came together for the Finals at Buxton Cricket club on Tuesday 15th June. We wish Simmondley Primary school well in the County Competition on Friday 18th June. For all the results please click here
