High Peak Young Ambassadors Programme

In the High Peak we have 12 Young Ambassadors taken from year 10s – 2 in every secondary school.

The Young Ambassador Programme is a national initiative and sometimes can result in opportunities for volunteering at major national sporting events.

The programme includes training and ongoing support for those ambassadors chosen from their secondary school.

This will give excellent experiences, qualifications and training.

Role of the ambassador includes:

Ø      Present certificates, give presentations after training, with support, to Primary      Schools about PE and Sport.

Ø      Be a potential representative on county / regional Young People’s sports forums.

Ø      Encourage local schools to increase the number of sports festivals and competitions offered to young people.

Ø      Act as a role model to promote the benefits of sports and physical activities.

Ø      Potentially attending regional conferences and training.

Ø      Work with the School Sports Co-ordinator or School & Sport Partnership Development Manager on local sports projects.

Ø      Complete a minimum of 50 hours voluntary leadership within the year in local clubs and schools.

Ø      Complete relevant coaching awards.

The role of a Sports Ambassador is a very prestigious one and something our young people take very seriously.

Outcomes of the programme are as follows:

Ø      To advocate the ethos and values of the Olympic and Paralympic movement.

Ø      To champion sport within local communities.

Ø      To create role models for other young people.

Ø      To aspire to inspire participation.
